[ARTIKEL] 13 Best Quit-Smoking Tips Ever

ok here are some tips to stop smoking that i came across just now. i know quite a number among the brothers are smokers (i don't know about the sisters), and even if you are not a smoker, you might have someone you love (friends, family members, future husband etc) that smoke. and i know some have tried their best to stop smoking only to find themselves returning to the habit. i am not the one to judge, but i have some tips that maybe will help you stop smoking, or help the people you love stop smoking. i hope this helps, insyaAllah

13 tips to stop smoking

1. know why you want to quit
-you need more than just " coz its bad to my health"
(check your 'niat')

2. don't go cold turkey
-not many can stop an addiction the second they decided to stop. ok, there are few people who can do that, but it is safer to consider yourself an 'average guy' in this matter.
(step by step and istiqamah)

3. try nicotine-replacement therapy
-a way to cope with nicotine withdrawal
(effort + tawakkal)

4. ask about presciption pills
-an alternative way
(more efforts. Allah will not change a person until they try to change themselves." This is because Allah has never changed a favor which He has conferred upon a people until they change their own condition; and because Allah is Hearing, Knowing;" al-Anfal, 8:53)

5. don't go it alone
-declare that you are going to stop, especially to your close friends who happen to be smokers too
( you are never alone in doing good. "And (as for) the believing men and the believing women, they are guardians of each other; they enjoin good and forbid evil and keep up prayer and pay the poor-rate, and obey Allah and His Apostle" at-Taubah, 9:71)

6. manage stress
-try your best not to be stressed, too many people failed to stop smoking because they can't handle depression
(only in remembering Allah, one finds peace. " now surely by Allah's remembrance are the hearts set at rest" ar-Ra'ad, 13:28)

7. avoid triggers
-eating make you feel like smoking? try do something else after eating, like brushing teeth. or try fasting
( "And as for him who fears to stand in the presence of his Lord and forbids the soul from low desires,Then surely the garden -- that is the abode" an-Nazi'at, 79:40-41)

8. clean house
-get rid of those things that are associated with smoking eg. ashtray
(cleanliness is a part of iman (mafhum hadith))

9. try and try again
-if you tried a 100 times and failed and then you stop trying, will you be able to change then?
( never stop believing in Allah's mercy."and despair not of Allah's mercy; surely none despairs of Allah's mercy except the unbelieving people" Yusuf, 12:87)

10. get moving
-exercise can help you with the cravings. this can also be helpful with the gaining weight when you stopped smoking (among the complications when you stopped smoking, which are not as bad as if you continue smoking)
(a strong believer is more loved by Allah than a weak one (mafhum hadith))

11. eat fruits and veggies
-fruits make cigarette taste bad? maybe its worth a try
( O men! eat the lawful and good things out of what is in the earth, and do not follow the footsteps of the Shaitan; surely he is your open enemy. al-Baqarah,2:168)

12. choose your reward
-imagine the thousands of gneh/ringgit you can save by not buying those cigarettes. spend some of it to buy yourself something to remind yourself of this achievement and as a sign of motivation!!

13. do it for your health
- and for the sake of those you love around you. and of course for yourself who will do the answering on the Judgement Day
("And a burdened soul cannot bear the burden of another and if one weighed down by burden should cry for (another to carry) its burden, not aught of it shall be carried, even though he be near of kin" (Fatir, 35:18))
